When a community joins the NFIP, part of their responsibilities is to complete Substantial Improvement/Damage inspections (SDEs)  to properties in the high risk areas within their community boundaries  identified on their FEMA FIRMs (Flood Insurance Rate Maps). This inspection is required any time the structure owners improve those structures or any time those structures are damaged from any events.   This workshop teaches community officials how to set up their own SDE process from the time the event happens to the end of the process where they are required to notify their structure owners of their results.  All form templates are given to the officials for their modification and use.  FEMA has a Substantial Damage Estimator (SDE) program,. 3.0 version.  For this workshop, the FEMA 3.0 program is demonstrated  and used.    This workshop also includes a physical inspection of a damaged property.  The workshop is approved for 6.5 hours of CECs for Certified  Floodplain Administrators.
